An extensive two-month voyage circling the Australian Coast is being halted in the wake of the death of an senior woman who was stranded by the ship on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the party for a break. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the ship staff became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt discovered her remains the following day.

Officials are looking into the incident, alongside police and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator announced that passengers and staff on the ship were notified that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "sad loss and earlier mechanical issues".
